The graffiti project ran a graffiti workshop this summer at the Bicester Skate event on August 16th. The graffiti project ran a graffiti workshop this summer at the Bicester Skate event on August 16th.
The skate event was fantastic and a real showcase for Bicesters skateboarding and BMX talent. SS20 were judging the event and there was a range of skills on show during the day.

The graffiti project ran a graffiti workshop teaching graffiti skills and showing off their fantastic artwork to the general public. We also ran a graff competition giving young people the opportunity to see their designs be put up on a graffiti wall by a professional artist!

A good day was had by all and we are hoping that next year the event will be bigger and better..watch this space!

Well done to Bicester Town Council, Cherwell District Council and SS20 and the Courtyard Youth Arts Centre for investing in such a top event.

After manic stage moving from the Courtyard to the Performance Hall due to the weather the summer event went ahead and was a roaring success enjoyed by all.

The rain did not deter a good turnout of over 200 people from all sections of the community.

Danny Morrell aka MC Yungstar introduced The Mayor of Bicester, Councillor Mrs Pauline Liddington who opened the event with a brief history of the Courtyard. Danny then hosted the rest of the event introducing all the performers – various metal bands, rappers and break dancers.

One lucky family won a drum kit in the prize draw and tombola organised by Yvonne Cooney, our special needs youth worker. The £127.60 proceeds from this and a tea and refreshment stall were donated to the Nuffield Hospital Orthopaedic Centre.

We would like to say a big thank you to the gig committee, volunteers, CDC Street Wardens and staff who all contributed to make the event run smoothly and enjoyable for all.

BBC Mini Movies workshops took place last week for eleven budding young filmmakers.
They learnt about all aspects of filmmaking and got expert tuition by BBC professionals, by the end of the three days the group had filmed, stared in, edited and produced three individual one minuet movies.

During the workshops the BBC Oxford radio journalists came to the courtyard and interviewed the young people about what they were doing, this was broadcast on the radio!

The edited movies were show at the Pheonix Cinema Oxford as part of Summerscreens best of the fest film finale. The Bicester Courtyard Mini Movies group of young film makers won the award for best one minute movie for their film ‘The Star’.

Well done!
